Local Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of affecting the visibility of a website or a web page in a web search engine’s unpaid results- often referred to as “natural” or “organic” results. In general, the higher ranked on the search results page and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine’s users, and these visitors can be converted into customers.

As an internet marketing strategy, local SEO considers how search engines work, what people search for, the actual search terms or keywords typed into search engines and which search engines are preferred by their targeted audience. Optimizing a website may involve editing its content, HTML and associated coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords and to remove barriers to the indexing activities of search engines. Promoting a site to increase the number of backlinks, or inbound links, is another SEO tactic.
Google is developing and pushing mobile search as the future in all of its products and many brands are beginning to take a different approach to their internet strategies. Site owners started to recognize the value of having their sites highly ranked and visible in search engine results. The success and popularity of a search engine is determined by its ability to produce the most relevant results to any given search, poor quality or irrelevant search results could lead users to find other search sources.
Local search is a heuristic method for solving computationally hard optimization problems. Local search can be used on problems that can be formulating as finding a solution maximizing a criterion among a number of candidate solutions. Local search algorithms move from solution to solution in the space of candidate solutions by applying local changes, until a solution deemed optimal is found or a time bound is elapsed.
Local Search Optimization is not hinged by link structure or link popularity with links coming from outside sources. A business may get great ranking with simple a Google map. Google places site but in reality a website and a modicum of traditional SEO is still needed. Local SEO relies heavily on local links from social sites and user interaction. Social media marketing can integrate local search with websites for geographical reference Google places, and twitter local trends. Search engine optimization also relies heavily on keyword where a huge focus is on SEO.

As competition is increasing in the market and every year, millions of new sites are created and thousands of new businesses stabilize as formidable enterprises. In response, potential search visibility is actively dropping in many areas, with features such as the Knowledge Graph taking over search engine results pages and long-standing blue chip brands dominating the national search landscape. Competition is increasing, so business owners will be forced to find smaller target niches in order to achieve relevant visibility. One of the most efficient ways to do this is to optimize locally, so local SEO will only grow in importance as competition continues to increase.
